Our real estate agent Gema García has been lucky enough to participate in the XIII AMPSI Congress, held in Benidorm on October 1, 2 and 3. Three days of meetings, learning, reflection and, above all, sharing experiences with great professionals in the sector.
As she herself says, there are conferences that you remember for the presentations and the knowledge you carry in your backpack, but there are others that you remember for the people who sat next to you, the conversations in the hallway, the laughter and the reunions.
And as Gema has a very special way of living and telling these experiences, we wanted to ask her to tell us about the congress in her own way.
This is how she has experienced it and this is how she tells us: as a good meal, with its starters, its main course, its dessert and, of course, an after-dinner conversation that ended up being one of the best parts of the menu.
"There are foods that you remember because of what you've eaten.
And there are others that you remember because of who was sitting next to you, the conversations, the laughter and everything you take away from the table.
For me, the XIII AMPSI Congress in Benidorm has been a bit like that: a great meal shared with colleagues, learning, reflection and a lot of desire to continue growing.
After three intense days, if I had to tell you about the congress in a different way, I would do it as a menum
Because, after all, what is a good congress if not a mixture of good ingredients and good company?
Thursday arrived with some starters that already make you think that the menu is promising.
The afternoon began with Eva González Nebreda and The Power of Communicating and Positive Language and Mediation: Keys to Unlocking Real Estate Conflicts.
And how important this is in our work.
In the real estate sector, we do not only mediate in the purchase or sale of homes. We work with people, with their expectations, their emotions, their doubts and, sometimes, their conflicts.
Learning to communicate, listen and mediate better is, without a doubt, one of the most valuable tools that we can incorporate into our daily lives.
Then came Moisés Ruiz with Real Estate Self-Deception. A perhaps less comfortable dish, but very necessary: learning to recognize those little mental traps that we can all make when we want things to be a certain way.
And to end the afternoon, "Luz, más Luz!" by Xavier Altimira. For me, one of the best interventions of the afternoon.
Slow, with rhythm and with those spaces that we often need to stop listening and start reflecting. Sometimes the most important thing in a presentation is not what we are told, but what we are able to think about afterwards.
After such an intense afternoon, it was time to relax.
The dinner went by in a relaxed way, between laughter, conversations and, of course, some moments talking about work. But we can't help it! We have real estate DNA. Even if we leave the office, change cities and sit down to dinner, an operation, an anecdote, a client or that "and how do you do . . . ?.
And that's precisely one of the things I like most about these reunions: Professional relationships end up becoming much more human conversations.
If Thursday was the starters, Friday was the main course of the menu.
An intense, varied day with many different flavours.
We talked about how to charge fees to the buyer, with Andrés Martín Pedreda; we enjoyed Women in an International Key, with representatives of Women's Council of REALTORS, and there was also space for one of the topics that is already an inevitable part of our present: artificial intelligence.
MIchele Di SEi's presentation, Everyone uses AI. Few understand. The tool is not the problem, you are, left an idea that is worth taking home.
Technology can be extraordinary, but the tool is not going to think for you. The criteria, the strategy, and knowing what you want to achieve depending on the moment continues to depend on each professional.
And between one thing and another there were also moments to look inward with The Power of Recognizing the Invisible, to occupy ourselves instead of worrying with Diamantina Centeno, review objectives and planning and learn new notarial keys to make better decisions.
And here came, in addition, one of those ingredients that were not in the program and that made the menu even more special.
Meeting again with Doña María Cristina Buendía, notary and legal disseminator, after almost 20 years, was one of those unexpected gifts that appear around a table.
Because congresses are useful for learning, yes. But also for reuniting with people, recovering memories and discovering that some paths cross again many years later.
And this is also part of the experience.
The sectoral table What now? The professional groups tell us about it put on the table a question that, in a sector like ours, we should constantly ask ourselves.
Where is the real estate profession headed?
Representatives of different organizations and groups shared their perspectives on the present and future of the sector. And I am left with something that was repeated, in one way or another, throughout the congress: we have to continue learning, adapting and sharing knowledge on the same path.
And like all good food, it's time for dessert. Don't let success catch you with a poker face, by Cristina Arozamena.
A good end to a day full of information, emotions and learning. Because let's be honest, we talk a lot about objectives, results, success, but we also need to remember something very simple: you have to enjoy the journey.
And what better way to do it than by sharing a gala dinner with all the colleagues.
And without realizing it, my favorite part of any good meal arrived: the after-dinner conversation. Although this time it was a slightly different after-dinner conversation. Terra Mítica was waiting for us, in a great activity organized by Griselda Varela and Diamantina Centeno.
More laughter, more conversations and that atmosphere that is created when there are no longer presentations or schedules and you simply enjoy being with people.
Because after three days, I think that's precisely the part that I take the most.
I could tell you many more things about the XIII AMPSI Congress. I could tell you about each presentation, each learning and each moment. But I prefer to stay with something more important.
I stay with the people.
With the new colleagues from all over Spain that I have been lucky enough to meet this year.
With conversations.
With laughter.
With the reunions.
With the ideas that have made me think.
And with that beautiful feeling of returning home with a head full of ideas and a little fuller heart too.
Because a good meal is not remembered only for what was on the plate. It is remembered for who was sitting with you, and this congress has undoubtedly been a very special table.
Now it's time to digest everything you've learned, put some ideas into practice and continue working.
And, of course, look forward to the next meeting.
See you at the AMPSI 2027 Congress in Alicante. I hope to sit down at the table with all of you again!
